AmeriLife’s Senior Market Advisors Makes Big Impact Helping Ugandan Orphans

AmeriLife

Senior Market Advisors (SMA), one of the fastest growing field marketing organizations (FMO) in the insurance space and an affiliate of AmeriLife Group, LLC (“AmeriLife”), announced today the building and opening of a home that houses 12 displaced children in Uganda in partnership with Nashville-based non-profit King’s Kids Africa. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Uganda, SMA representatives Jeremy Tingler, Henry S. Goldsmith and Annie Cobb met King’s Kids representatives, spoke with local officials about community impact and spent time with each of the 12 children gaining first-hand perspectives on how this opportunity will change their lives. “This home is a tangible foundation for creating life-long opportunities and strengthening the community for the benefit of children in need, while also providing much needed infrastructure to foster spiritual development, education, physical and mental wellbeing and social integration,” said Cobb. The home was built in an agricultural village just outside the capital city of Kampala and is part of a larger community expansion plan led by King’s Kids Africa. That plan includes a school, community center and home, all built around the local church, which is at the foundation of the organization’s Christian-faith mission. “The impact of this home – built amidst the church, school and community center – was visible to us as we toured the area and collection of nearby villages,” added Goldsmith. “You could see it, feel it, and the kid’s overall health and positive mentality was noticeable. This demonstrated to us not only the need for continued humanitarian interventions, but the impact King’s Kids Africa is having on the children and communities where they work.” “Our continued fundraising efforts are earmarked to support the lives of these 12 children,” said Christy Boyd, executive vice president of Shared Services at Senior Market Advisors. “Building the home was the first step, but there are daily expenses to running a home and providing for these children as they grow through the King’s Kids program. Our support continues.” AmeriLife and its network of affiliates have a long history supporting dozens of local, national and international non-profits including charity:water, Feeding America and St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, among others. “All of us at AmeriLife are very proud of SMA’s commitment to community and humanity, and its continued demonstration of our shared values, wherever help is needed,” said Scott R. Perry, chairman and CEO of AmeriLife. “We congratulate and celebrate the SMA staff and leadership for the transformative differences made in the lives and future of these 12 children.” To join Senior Market Advisors in supporting King’s Kids Africa program in Uganda, please visit www.kingskidsafrica.org or contact Christy Boyd at cboyd@seniormarketadvisors.com. ### About Senior Market Advisors Senior Market Advisors (SMA), a Medicare FMO, has been a leader in profit management since 2007, driven by hard work and a commitment to “doing right” by the consumer. BEYOND THE BASICS – ENSURING STUDENT’S SUCCESS IN 2023

YourUpdateTV

Midsummer signals the start of back-to-school season. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Mia Syn did a satellite media tour to share a few tips and help you prioritize health and wellness for the whole family as we head into the excitement of back-to-school. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/6BukXzTsKko Experts agree that eating well throughout childhood and adolescence supports proper growth and development. Syn recommends starting the day off with a healthy breakfast, which studies also suggest helps a child's attention span and memory—essential for learning in school. A perfect way to kick off the day is with something fun and tasty like banana pancakes or mini-fruit kebobs. The kebobs are easy to make with pineapple, strawberries, grapes, and blueberries—just pair it with a flavored yogurt as dip. You can also try apple cinnamon oatmeal. Grab a store-bought oatmeal and top it with apples, cinnamon, raisins and pecans. The goal is to make sure kids have the energy they need to make it to lunchtime. Snacking can get a bad wrap with kids reaching for empty calorie options like chips, pizza or soda. For a better-for-you protein-packed snack anytime and anywhere, Justin’s® Honey Almond Butter Squeeze Packs check all the boxes. One, they’re convenient - no refrigeration or utensils are needed. The Squeeze Packs are a super “easy squeezy” option for breakfast crunch time, lunchtime and after-school snacking. Two, they have 6 grams of plant-based protein and 3 grams of fiber, all while being made with mindfully sourced, simple and clean ingredients. Three, they’re delicious with a slight sweetness of organic honey and a one-of-a kind grind giving them a naturally delicious taste. The Squeeze Packs are perfect for pairing with oatmeal and toast in the morning, with crackers and carrots for, or with fruit for snack. Or, they can be enjoyed simply straight out of the pack, perfect for on-the-go families this back-to-school season. Justin’s products are available at most major retailers nationwide; find a store near you at Justins.com/where-to-buy. Creating balanced meals is key to ensuring that you and your family are getting the nutrients you need to stay healthy. That’s why meals should contain fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and a variety of proteins. However, we also want to think about ways to jumpstart our metabolism. Metavo is the world's first plant-based metabolism management supplement brand and contains the proprietary avocado compound AvoB. Metavo helps parents feel their best while taking care of their kids during the busy back to school season. It activates metabolism at the cellular level, enabling our bodies to properly metabolize fats, proteins and carbs to help improve insulin sensitivity, glucose tolerance, and energy slumps. Metavo also helps with food cravings while enabling proactive health management, allowing families to activate their metabolism naturally. You can find out more at Metavo.com As kids and teachers head back to school, parents can protect their kids and themselves from indoor air pollutants in classrooms and gymnasiums, offices and airplanes, as well as pet dander at home and those airborne pollutants outside on the field. Back to School Tips for Healthy Eyes

YourUpdateTV

With the back-to-school season underway, it’s time to take an important look at your child’s eye health. Recently, the President of the American Optometric Association, Dr. Ronald L. Benner, participated in a nationwide satellite media tour to discuss back-to-school eye safety tips and the importance of having in-person, comprehensive eye exams with a doctor of optometry. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/_wkZ4uuCvmg Since the pandemic, children have spent more hours using computers and digital devices for remote learning. This increase in screen time can be extremely taxing on the visual system and have long-term consequences for vision and learning. It also increases the likelihood of developing myopia (nearsightedness), eye coordination issues, eyestrain, dry eye, and exacerbated existing eye conditions. Eye and vision disorders can lead to problems in a child’s normal development, school performance, social interactions, engagement in athletics, and self-esteem. Vision disorders that occur in childhood may manifest as problems well into adulthood, affecting an individual’s level of education, employment opportunities, and social interactions. In addition, undiagnosed vision issues are sometimes misdiagnosed as learning disorders. Vision screenings, such as those performed in schools or pediatrician’s offices, are not a substitute for comprehensive eye exams performed by an optometrist. Annual in-person, comprehensive eye exams are one of the most important, preventative ways to preserve vision and overall health. Optometrists are America’s primary eye health care providers, and are on the frontline of eye and vision care. They examine, diagnose, treat and manage diseases and disorders of the eye. In addition to providing eye and vision care, they play a major role in an individual’s overall health and well-being by detecting systemic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension. Eye exams safeguard overall health by enabling doctors to detect more than 270 serious health conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune diseases and cancers. Eye Deserve More is a multi-faceted national campaign to take a stand that every American deserves in-person comprehensive care from an AOA doctor of optometry as part of their eye health and overall health and wellbeing. As part of the campaign, to further combat serious eye conditions, AOA developed Blink Land, a single-player mobile game that educates gamers through engaging mini-games and interesting trivia to empower them to focus on their eye health. Download Blink Land on Apple App Store and Google Play Store. For more information, visit aoa.org/eyedeservemore About Dr. Benner Ronald L. Benner, O.D., was elected to the American Optometric Association Board of Trustees at the 118th Annual AOA Congress & 45th Annual AOSA Conference: Optometry's Meeting® in June 2015 and elected to the office of President during the 126th Annual AOA Congress & 55th Annual AOSA Conference: Optometry's Meeting in June 2023. In addition to his duties as President, Dr. Benner serves as chair of the Executive Committee, Agenda Committee, and 401(k) Committee. Dr. Benner is also the liaison trustee to the American Academy of Optometry, the AOA Political Action Committee and the National Optometric Leadership Conference. His board assignments also include the Advocacy Committee, the Meetings & Member Experiences Committee, the Faculty & Student Membership Liaisons Committee, the Future Practice Education Task Force and the Advocacy Roundtable Committee. He also serves as a liaison to affiliate associations in Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin and is the trustee liaison to optometry schools including Chicago College of Optometry, Illinois College of Optometry, Indiana School of Optometry and Michigan College of Optometry—Ferris State University.
